Tinay Palabay is a human rights defender in the Philippines. She is the Secretary General of the Human Rights Organisation Karapatan.
Beginning of March she came to Geneva to prepare the Human Rights Report for the Philippines at the UN High Commission on Human Rights, which is due in June 2020. When the first government measures against COVID-19 were taken in Switzerland her flights were cancelled and since she is stranded in Switzerland. I was able to do a skype Interview with her today about the impact of the Corona virus in the Philippines and the repressive measures by the Duterte government.

When Tinay Palabay will finally be able to go back to Manila there is an open warrant of arrest awaiting her. She might get arrested right away at the airport. The warrant of arrest against her is part of a repressive campaign by the Duterte regime to harrass human rights defenders in the Philippines.
She explains first about the impact of the Corona virus and the government measures on the people and after that she talks about the repression against human rights defenders and political activists in the Philippines.
